Victoria

Our grand adventure begins with a love story that has captivated millions of people in over 50 countries for the past 109 years.

In 1915, in a small town in La Rioja, in northern Spain, Gregorio had the idea to create a shoe, which he named after his first love, his wife Victoria.

In an effort to improve upon the traditional espadrilles produced at the time with rubber soles, the newly invented vulcanization technique was incorporated in the 1950s. It was then that the iconic Victoria canvas shoe was born, which in the 1980s became a symbol for an entire generation.

In 2004, we embarked on a new adventure with the international expansion of the brand. Today, we export 75% of our production to more than 50 countries, taking our historical legacy to almost every corner of the globe. Thanks to our artisanal manufacturing methods and a strong commitment to innovation, design, and sustainability, Victoria is experiencing significant growth in both the Spanish and international markets, particularly in France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal, South Korea, and the USA.

In recent years, the fashion industry has become one of the most polluting on the planet, and time is running out.

What has remained largely unchanged is the traditional way we produce our shoes: by hand, one by one, and most of them in La Rioja, just as we did in 1915. Because for us, ecology isn't an option; it's been our way of doing things from the very beginning.

Our commitment is to review and update all our processes annually to ensure we do everything possible to minimize our environmental impact.

The "V" for victory has been present on our sneakers since almost the beginning of our history; the oldest record we have dates back to 1977.

An industrial model, signed in Logroño on September 8, 1977, features a drawing of a sneaker from that era, certifying that Victoria was the first brand to use this decorative element on footwear, almost 50 years ago.

Do you know why our sneakers have such a distinctive smell? If you open one of our boxes, you'll discover a strawberry scent that permeates everything. It's not just a coincidence, and the reason for this aroma dates back to post-war Spain, when scarcity was a constant that sharpened ingenuity.

At that time, the natural rubber we used to make our sneakers began to run out. So, at Victoria, we decided to change our recipe and began reusing tires to transform them into soles. Because the smell of the tire was so strong, a strawberry-scented perfume was used to mask it, and since then that smell has been with us, becoming a hallmark of our identity.
